Meet Emily!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Emily Lane, one of our fantastic photographers! This will be Emily’s first year on staff. Emily will be a freshman this fall and she is a Dance and Psychology double major. She enjoys dance, photography, theatre, and art. Emily also loves to go swing dancing in downtown Grand Rapids. Emily joined the Milestone because she has always loved photography and she wanted to help capture the spirit of Hope College for the yearbook.
As a photographer this year, Emily will be charged with helping us capture Hope’s most important moments throughout the 2011-2012 school year. She will help us capture events, sports, and groups, photographing the events and people that you will remember most about the year. We think that Emily will make a great photographer!

Meet Kat!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Kat Dickson, one of our fantastic photographers! This will be Kat’s first year on staff. Kat will be a freshman this fall and she is a Spanish and Education double major with an Art minor. She loves playing sports (especially soccer and basketball!), traveling, anything artsy, photography, and reading. Something on Kat’s bucket list is to travel to all 50 states. Kat joined the Milestone because she wants to enhance her photography skills, get involved on campus, and meet some new people!

As a photographer this year, Kat will be charged with helping us capture Hope’s most important moments throughout the 2011-2012 school year. She will help us capture events, sports, and groups, photographing the events and people that you will remember most about the year. We think that Kat will make a great photographer!

Meet Briana!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Briana Willoughby, also knew as Bree, one of our Student Life Section Staffers! This is Briana’s first year on staff. Bree will be a freshman this fall and she is a History Secondary Education major with an English minor. She enjoys babysitting, chilling with friends, and music. Briana joined the Milestone because she loves to meet new people and thought this would be a great way to do so.

As a Student Life Section Staffer this year, Briana’s job will consist of helping with the spreads that cover the major events of Hope College. The Student Life Section is the section that contains all of the photos and stories of the proud Hope traditions and annual events; events like the Pull, Nykerk, Dance Marathon, Chapel, the Dew Crew, and Spring Fling. Events that are so ingrained into our lives at Hope we just couldn’t imagine what the year would be like without them. We think that Briana will be great at this position!

Meet Jake!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Jake Kalmink, one of our fantastic photographers! This will be Jake’s first year on staff. Jake will be a freshman this fall and he is a Journalism/Art/Audio major. He enjoys writing, music, and drawing. Jake shares a birthday with Harry Potter and he is a huge fan of Bruce Springsteen. Jake joined the Milestone because he loves people and photography alike!
As a photographer this year, Jake will be charged with helping us capture Hope’s most important moments throughout the 2011-2012 school year. Meet Alex!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Alex Kouzoukas, one of our Groups Section Staffers! This is Alex’s first year on staff. Alex will be a sophomore this fall and she is an English with Creative Writing emphasis major with Spanish and Religion minors. She enjoys volunteering, writing, games, and hanging out with friends and family. Interestingly enough, Alex has also been known to teleport on occasion. Alex joined the Milestone because wanted to try something new and meet new people.

As a Groups Section Staffer this year, Alex’s job will consist of helping with the spreads that cover the groups of Hope College. The Groups Section is the section that contains all of the photos, stories, and aspirations of all of the student groups on campus, and what each group is all about. This section is a guide to all of the cool and unique student groups on campus; many known, but some still unheard-of by many. We think that Alex will be great at this position!

Meet Shirly!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Shirly Samuel, one of our Academics Section Staffers! This is Shirly’s first year on staff. Shirly will be a freshman this fall and she is a Biology major with a French minor. She enjoys reading, cooking, baking, and listening to music. Shirly joined the Milestone because she enjoys working on the yearbook and thinks that this will be a wonderful opportunity to get to know Hope better.

As the Academics Section Staffer this year, Shirly’s job will consist of helping with spreads that cover the academics of Hope College. The Academics Section covers academic groups such as the Baker Scholars and Mortar Board, academically enriching events such as the Critical Issues Symposium, student research, international houses, professor retirements, exciting study abroad experiences, and staff and faculty photos. Unique stories this year will include the July windstorm that forever changed the landscape of the beloved Pine Grove. We think that Shirly will be great at this position!

Kiki joined the Milestone because she wants to share her photography with the school in a practical way.

Meet Arifa!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Arifa Brookins Hinton, our Student Life Section Editor! Arifa was on the staff last year as a photographer. Arifa will be a junior this fall and she is an Art major. She enjoys baking, cooking, photography, shopping, and helping those in need. Arifa joined the Milestone because a yearbook is a book of memories and tells stories of your life during college.  Arifa wants to be a part of telling those stories.

Meet Molly!

Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Molly Theiling, our People Section Editor! Molly was on the staff last year as the People Section Editor. Molly will be a sophomore this fall and she is a Business and Communications double major. She loves singing and playing her guitar, taking photos, drawing, and she is a member of Delta Phi. She has a Simba tattoo and loves Harry Potter. Molly joined the Milestone because she was a yearbook editor in high school, and it was her creative outlet. She was able to design the entire yearbook and perfect the entire thing, and she really enjoyed that!

As the People Section Editor this year, Molly will be in charge of the spreads that cover the people of Hope College. The People Section is the section that contains senior portraits, underclassmen photos, and feature stories about students and faculty on campus.  We think that Molly will be great at this position!

Meet Drew!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Drew Goodman, our Academics Section Editor! This is Drew’s first year on staff. Drew will be a freshman this fall and she is a Biology major with an Environment Science minor. She enjoys reading, running, and classic Disney movies. Drew joined the Milestone because she is so excited for this year and she really want to get involved at Hope!

Meet Justine!


Hey everyone! Today, I would like to introduce Justine Poe, our Groups Section Editor! This is Justine’s first year on staff. Justine will be a freshman this fall and she is a Public Relations and Communications double major with a Video Production minor. She enjoys dance, music (vocal and piano), yearbooking, sports, and mission trips. Justine lives on a ranch and loves animals but she’s still a big city girl and plans to go on to NYC after Hope. Justine joined the Milestone because she believes a picture is worth a thousand words and she loves being a part of something that will last a lifetime and benefit all.

As the Groups Section Editor this year, Justine will be in charge of the spreads that cover the groups of Hope College. The Groups Section is the section that contains all of the photos, stories, and aspirations of the numerous student groups on campus, and what each group is all about. This section is a guide to all of the cool and unique student groups on campus; many known, but some still unheard-of by many. Her goal is to make every group well represented. We think that Justine will be great at this position!

Meet Meg!


Hey everyone! Today I would like to introduce Meg Munoz our Sports Section Editor! This is Meg’s first year on staff. Meg will be a junior this fall and she is a Management and Economics double major. She enjoys playing tennis and her favorite flavor of ice cream is French Silk. Meg joined the Milestone because she wanted to be involved in something different this upcoming school year.

As the Sports Section Editor this year, Meg will be in charge of the spreads that cover the athletes of Hope College. The Sports Section is the section that contains all of the photos and stories of the tense moments, the great plays, the joyous wins, the nail-biters, and the games that brought the fans to their feet.  We think that Meg will be great at this position!
